OcToBeR

Don't you just love October. It is a sign of everything to come. The best thing is when you walk into the stores and they have all the Halloween junk, right next to the Thanksgiving junk, which is also placed right by the Christmas junk. Really, why don't you make it hard on moms and go out and confuse the children by your retail greediness.
I get asked, "Mom, why do they have Christmas stuff out if we haven't even had Halloween?" It is then followed quickly by, "can we go look at what we might want for Christmas?" Yes, by all means, lets go look at costumes and toys and put me into stress overload at the cost of everything for a family our size! Whatever happened to the let's take one step at a time. No joke, we spotted Christmas items for sale and decorated trees in stores in September. I guess I just don't get it. Or is it because I truly think of Thanksgiving as a time to give heart felt Thanks instead of superficial honors. Oh, and Christmas is not about a man in a Red Suit who tends to spend way to much money, but about the birth of an incredible Man who lived His life in such a way that millions want to be like Him, and then went on to be Our Savior.
Silly me, what do I know though!

Ya, but wouldn't all that JUNK look so cute on my porch?

We are lucky Hadley is being super naughty lately, lots of her toys are going in a "Christmas box" then SUPRISE! Guess what she gets!

You are an amazing mom, Id love to come watch you for a week, I'm sure I could learn a lot!

October is one of my favorite 'Fall' months. On a good weather day on a weekend, it's fun to be at a football game. I love the colors and crunchy leaves when they fall to the ground. Cute post for October,....I hear exactly what you are saying about the stores.

We were pawing through the "trashed already" Halloween decorations and went around the corner ~ BOOM ~ there was Christmas all ready for those who are crazy enough to start shopping ALREADY. That's OK ~ I'm still going to enjoy Fall ~ "it's the most wonderful time of the year!" No stress and much to be Grateful for!
We hear our little KwinLee babe is down for the count ~ we'll try to call her tomorrow. Until then tell her we are sure thinking about her.

I like October because it means that the awesome people with birthdays in November will soon be celebrating.=) Come to Shanghai if you want to avoid all the holiday crossover. We have to search to find anything Halloween related. There is virtually nothing for Thanksgiving and Christmas is so foreign and new to them that gaudy decorations are all you can find. We usually have a good laugh at their attempt to promote commercialism for a holiday they don't celebrate. We are looking forward to Halloween at our school. My students decorated the classroom with cobwebs on Monday and now we are making pumpkins, ghosts, spiders and skeletons. Their teacher gets a little excited about decorating for Halloween as you might guess but our room is going to look awesome!!! It is fun teaching the non-American students about our traditions. Friday, the 30th, we will trick-or-treat and have a Halloween carnival. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and frustrations. Love ya!
